Meet the Cats of Black Cat Botanicals
Black Cat Botanicals was named after two beloved black cats, but the story of our feline family extends far beyond a name.
At its heart, Black Cat Botanicals is about belonging.
It is about finding a place where you are accepted exactly as you are. A place where growth is encouraged, differences are celebrated, and family is built through love rather than circumstance alone.
Over the years, our home has welcomed foster cats, rescue cats, and animals searching for second chances. Some stayed only long enough to find the families they were meant for. Others decided they were already home.
Each arrived with their own story.
Each brought something unique into our lives.
And each helped shape the heart of Black Cat Botanicals.
The cats who share our home today are more than companions. They are family. They remind us daily that healing takes time, trust can be rebuilt, and sometimes the place you belong is waiting for you when you least expect it.
These are their stories.
Kirito
CEO of Ritual Affairs
Kirito is one of the two black cats who inspired the name Black Cat Botanicals.
She came into our lives alongside her sister, Yoruichi. The two shared a bond that was impossible to ignore, and separating them was never an option. They arrived together and have remained together ever since.
While we may never know much about the life they lived before finding us, we know exactly what happened after.
Kirito chose her human.
She became my constant companion, my shadow, and the cat who firmly decided I belonged to her.
Whether products are being created, ideas are being planned, or quiet moments are being shared, Kirito is rarely far away. She is my velcro cat, my familiar, and one of the greatest inspirations behind Black Cat Botanicals.
Yoruichi
Reluctant Employee
Yoruichi is Kirito's sister and what we believe to be the eldest member of our feline family.
Gentle, calm, and endlessly patient, Yoruichi carries herself with the quiet wisdom of someone who has seen it all and sees no reason to rush.
When I think of her, I picture a kind older woman sitting comfortably in a favorite chair with yarn in her lap, quietly crocheting while observing the world around her.
She prefers peace over chaos, comfort over excitement, and observation over participation.
While she may be a reluctant employee, her presence is one of the foundations of our home.
Raymond
Office Manager
Raymond, our long-haired black and white tuxedo cat, began life under very different circumstances.
He was found abandoned at a mechanic shop, covered in motor oil and struggling to survive.
A compassionate foster mother rescued him, bottle-fed him, and gave him the chance he deserved.
When the time came, Raymond found his way into our family.
To this day, we remain in contact with the woman who saved him.
Raymond quickly decided that I was his human and has never looked back.
As Office Manager, he excels at supervision, companionship, and ensuring all household operations are conducted according to his standards.
Grey
CEO of Foraging & Outdoor Acquisitions
Before finding his way to us, Grey survived on the streets.
His difficult beginning left lasting marks. Even now, he still carries some food insecurities and prefers to eat separately from the other cats.
But Grey has come a very long way.
Strong, resilient, and endlessly resourceful, he has transformed from a survivor into a beloved member of our family.
Grey is the only member of our feline team with outdoor privileges. He takes great pride in patrolling his territory and conducting important field research.
His years outdoors also made him an exceptional hunter, and like many cats, he proudly shares the results of his work.
Grey has chosen our two sons as his humans and remains fiercely devoted to them.
Majin Buu
CEO of Chaos
Some cats become foster failures.
Majin Buu became family long before anyone was ready to admit it.
When he and his siblings first arrived, he was the first kitten to confidently step out of the carrier as though he had already decided he belonged.
Although we brought the litter to the shelter in hopes of finding them loving homes, I found myself returning day after day after work.
I would sit quietly in the kitten room for hours.
And every day, Majin would climb into my lap, curl up, and fall asleep.
It became our routine.
Until one day.
I arrived to visit and he completely ignored me.
No greeting.
No cuddles.
Nothing.
It felt as though he had decided that if I was going to keep leaving, he was done waiting.
That was the day I realized he was already home.
Majin chose my husband as his human and has dedicated his life to ensuring that absolutely nothing remains predictable.
Ryuk
Intern of Chaos
Ryuk is the newest member of our cat coven.
We first saw him on a local shelter's social media page and immediately felt something familiar.
He wasn't just another cat.
He felt like the missing piece.
Not long afterward, Ryuk officially joined the family.
Like Majin before him, Ryuk quickly claimed my husband as his human.
He also developed a strong preference for shoulder rides and firmly believes that being carried at an elevated height is his natural right.
Given my husband's height, Ryuk considers this arrangement ideal.
As Intern of Chaos, Ryuk spends his days learning the family business, exploring every corner of the house, and ensuring that life remains entertaining for everyone involved.
More Than Cats
For many years, our family has fostered and cared for cats from all walks of life.
Some arrived frightened.
Some arrived injured.
Some arrived uncertain of what it meant to feel safe.
Watching them learn to trust, grow in confidence, and find loving homes has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives.
That belief remains woven into everything we do at Black Cat Botanicals.
We believe in second chances.
We believe in growth.
We believe in creating spaces where people feel welcome to be themselves.
Most of all, we believe that family is not always the one you are born into. Sometimes it is the one you build through love, patience, acceptance, and choice.
Every cat who has crossed our threshold has left pawprints on our hearts.
These are the cats who continue to help write the story of Black Cat Botanicals, one chapter at a time.
Yoruichi and Kirito
"Black cats will never go out of style; they’re timelessly chic!"
"Cats remind us to be curious, explore the unknown and live life on our own terms."
